Myocardial Profusion Imaging
Most commonly, a stress test is performed by a patient walking on a treadmill at different elevations which will allow for an accurate analysis of your hearts blood flow while at stress. This form of stress test is usually referred to as an exercise stress test, also known as a treadmill test, exercise electrocardiogram or stress EKG. An electrocardiogram, blood pressure and heart rate will be monitored throughout the exercise stress testing.
In some cases where exercise stress testing is not an option, patients will be administered a pharmacologic stress agent that will stress the patient’s heart mimicking walking on a treadmill.
